Process
| Q: What is an epoxy pipe lining? | |
| Epoxy pipe lining is a process that cleans and lines corroded metal plumbing systems, while adding an interior epoxy coating that seals and protects pipe interiors from further corrosion and water contact. The specially formulated epoxy lining is engineered to withstand the erosive and corrosive forces of fast flowing, aggressive water. Epoxy pipe lining has been used since the 1960’s in Japan, the 1970’s in Germany, and the 1980’s in the United States by the U.S. Navy. The demand and marketability of the product expanded at the beginning of the 21st century as the number of plumbing leaks reached epidemic levels. The interior of the piping is dried and sandblasted to remove any products of corrosion. The liquid epoxy is then carried through the pipes on a vigorous vortex of hot air, thoroughly coating all pipe interior surfaces with a thin film of liquid epoxy. The epoxy flows into and through all pits, crevices, pinholes, and fractures, bonding to these cleaned and prepared pipe surfaces. The controlled air flow and pressure keeps the liquid epoxy in place on the walls of the pipes while aiding in the curing process. The final product is a new, corrosion resistant plumbing system. |

| CuraFlo™ epoxy pipe linings are installed through the existing plumbing connections and require no demolition. Property owners achieve significant cost savings by avoiding reconstruction because the CuraFlo™ process does not damage existing walls, floors, or ceilings. In addition the CuraFlo™ process is much less disruptive to a property’s tenants than a traditional plumbing repair.
